About Melissa DeAngelo
When you step into the office of West Florida Insurance Agency you immediately realize this is not your average insurance company. Melissa DeAngelo has created a space that exemplifies the teamwork and camaraderie that has been a force throughout her life. As a young female entrepreneur Melissa is redefining leadership in business and in the Manasota community. Born and raised in West Caldwell, New Jersey, Melissa was always fascinated by how she could help other people. At a young age, she began developing her problem solving skills by identifying needs and providing unique solutions. Much of her childhood was spent creating various programs for the residents of the assisted living facilities her mother managed. When she wasn’t helping her mother she was helping her teammates.
In high school, Melissa used her problem solving skills on the volleyball court. Although she was an athletic success in multiple sports, volleyball became her passion. She played for her high school team, as well as for the Atlantic Valley Volleyball Club, a local travel team. Melissa was a decorated athlete receiving numerous awards including All American, a title given to the top 150 high school athletes in each sport. Her prowess on the court earned her a scholarship to play at Lehigh University. The experiences gained through her volleyball career helped shape the leadership skills that drove her educational endeavors. Knowing that psychology and business go hand in hand, Melissa combined her love of psychology with her business acumen and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors in Business and Economics, and a minor in psychology.
Melissa moved to Sarasota after graduation and began her career in insurance as a marketing manager for Palm Insure. In 2012, she become an underwriting manager and immersed herself in all aspects of the insurance industry. In only four years Melissa and her agency have made an incredible impact.
